Here are some sketches for the Manta Ray Mermaid Animation I have done! The manta ray mermaid is actually a mix between a Manta Ray and a Spotted Eagle Ray. The Spotted Eagle Ray has a more thinner body then the wider, flater-bodied Manta but I stilled liked the mouth filter thing on their face.

Vlog-Tomboy
This is a vlog I did under my Youtube identity of Lori Days were I discuss my relationship with sports growing up. I illustrated some of the things I talk about in the video. I decided I want to make more videos like this were I add an art element to it.

Mermaid Concept 3
Ok last batch. (unless I find a really interesting fish)
This batch has been difficult because I've been running out of interesting fish. Well, there are many, many interesting sea creatures but some don't make good mermaids (like the saw shark) and some, which are really pretty, make boring/predictable mermaids and the point of me doing this is to find original and unique designs for mermaids. I started researching extinct and prehistoric sea critters. There were a lot of cool ones I thought would make better Mermen then mermaids.
Ok, from left to right and top to bottom: Whale Mermaid, Ammonite Mermaid, Cuddlefish Mermaid, Another Cuddlefish Mermaid, Bubble Eye Goldfish Mermaid. Hammerhead Shark Mermaid, Hula Skirt Siphonophore Mermaid, Plesiosaurus Mermaid, Yellow Bellied Sea Snake Mermaid, Bothriolepis Mermaid, Sea Dragon Mermaid, Triop Mermaid.
I couldn't deside which Cuddlefish Mermaid design I liked better so I added both to the lineup. Its a bit crowded now...
I decided to go in different direction with Whale Mermaid and Hammerhead Mermaid.
For Whale Mermaid, I was going for more of a overall whale-silhouette instead of just a whale tail.
For the Hammerhead Mermaid, I wanted to see what it would look like if the fish part was designed kind of like a dress. I looked up paintings of mermaids and I found one that had mermaids dressed in renaissance type clothing and i thought that it was quite different then the normal nude mermaid. I liked it. Plus the head of Hammerhead Shark Mermaid kind of looks like those fancy/silly hairstyles women used to wear so I wanted to build on that.
So, everyone, out of this batch, which one is your favorite. I'm keeping a tally sheet for all my mermaids, the ones that are most popular get second drafts and an animation swim test.

Mermaid Concepts 2
in this batch (from left to write and top to bottom): Clownfish Mermaid, Manta Ray Mermaid, Seal Mermaid, Ghost Knife Mermaid, Octopus Mermaid, Pufferfish Mermaid, Lion Fish Mermaid, Manatee Mermaid, Axolotl Mermaid, Beta Fish Mermaid, Lobster Mermaid.
I am very pleased with how the Manta Ray mermaid came out. It looks like she is wearing a kimono. I drew fingers on her to show that she has hands coming out of the tips of her fins. It wasn't clear when I kept it blocked in shapes.
So tell me which one is your favorite out of this batch!
